About Coventry Health Care of Georgia, Inc.
Coventry Health Care of Georgia, Inc. provides health insurance products and services, including HMO, Point-of-Service, PPO and Medicare Advantage, to employers and individuals throughout the state of Georgia. Coventry Health Care of Georgia serves over 144,000 Georgia residents and features a network of over 17,000 participating health care provider locations in Georgia.
Coventry Health Care of Georgia has been successfully serving members since it was incorporated in Georgia on January 10, 1994, as Principal Health Care of Georgia, Inc. (PHCGA). In April of 1994, PHCGA filed for a merger with Preferred Health Plan, Inc. This new corporation was acquired by Coventry Health Care, Inc. in 1999, and the legal name of PHCGA was changed to Coventry Health Care of Georgia, Inc. on September 29, 1999.
Coventry Health Care of Georgia is a subsidiary of Coventry Health Care, Inc., one of the country’s largest health care companies providing a full range of risk and fee-based health care products and services in all 50 states.

A.M. Best describes health care organizations as having an excellent long-term ability to meet their obligations to members and policyholders. A.M. Best has again assigned a financial strength rating of Excellent (A-) to Coventry Health Care of Georgia (November 2008).
URAC Accreditation
Coventry Health Care of Georgia is accredited by URAC. The URAC Health Plan accreditation process measures a health plan’s performance based on nationally accepted standards of quality. This accreditation shows that Coventry complies with standards that include key quality benchmarks for network management, provider credentialing, utilization management, quality management and improvement and consumer protection.
